Your FL Life Mortgage Report
This week, the mortgage rates increased by .16%. Fannie Mae is reporting that though rates have increased, there isn’t a decrease in sales in comparison to December 2023. However, how do the numbers look in comparison to last year’s April numbers. The comparison in Alachua County is, 410 homes were sold last year April and so far for this month, there are 380 homes sold. So, Fannie Mae is correct in saying that the numbers have still increased regardless of the rate increase. So, the rate increases are not affecting buyer’s decision to buy this year.
Your FL Life Trivia
What is the nickname of Florida?
The Answer
Florida’s nickname in 1950 was made official by Florida’s Legislative. Other nicknames of Florida are Peninsula and Big Bend. Other states have nicknames that came from something related to its past, the weather, a historical moment, a landmark or a cultural icon. After Florida became the 125th state in the US it was then known by its nickname. Other fun facts about Florida are, it has over 100,000 earthquakes each year. I am glad I have never experienced one and hope never to. Did you know that Florida has over 1,300 golf courses and I’m quite sure there are still more to come? This state is known to have the most golf courses and understandably so. With 300 days of sunshine each year, Florida is known as the Sunshine State. With such weather, vacationers, retirees and snowbirds find this state appealing and make it one of the most visited places to go, especially when they hear the name being used in marketing.
