This weekend has quite a lot of events but Sunday unexpectedly has a lot of things to do. Here are a few of the things to do, there is a Gator Baseball vs St John’s. Also in Gainesville Cypress & Grove Brewing is hosting their 41st Annual Beast Feast, there is a Pretty in Pink Pageant, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram/Bridget Kelly Band by High Dive. On Sunday in Gainesville, there is the Florida Vintage Market, February Flora and Fauna Festival, blossom, brew & bbq, Trumpets on Parade and so much more. Events are happening in other cities too, like Jacksonville, Ocala, Williston, Chiefland and Alachua.

Mortgage Rates have increased this week by .13%. Freddie Mac is reporting that mortgage applications are significantly less than last year in all states. This influctuation and inconsistency in the market is making buyers uneasy or unsettled as to what is to come.

How does the Gainesville’s School District Rank in the State?

 

Gainesville public schools is listed as one of the best school districts in the state, as it’s students and staff have achieved numerous awards nationally and regionally. Awards received are, a student won a national prize for mapping impact of hurricane. Eastside High vocalists named to national honor choir. Four local students named semifinalists in prestigious national science competition. A local educator receives Governor’s Shine Award. Students were also named National Merit semifinalists, six honored in Nat. Hispanic Recognition Program. Another shining star is where Williams Elementary wins national individual/team chess championships. Congratulations goes to ACPS for the graduation rate rising, allowing for dramatic increases for African-American students. GHS students earn top scores in nation, world on prestigious Cambridge exams, while EHS was named state finalist in national STEM competition for robotics/school safety project. Local principal named one of the state’s best and a student was a finalist in prestigious national science competition. The list of achievement goes on. I hope that ACPS continues to strive at excelling with its students, continuing to receive the results and awards it has obtained thus far. Thank you ACPS  for investing in our students!
